What is debossing?

About Debossing

Debossing is the opposite of embossing: the design is pressed down into the board so it sits below the surface. It creates a refined, recessed impression that customers can feel with their fingertips.

Debossing works beautifully on kraft, rigid and thick paperboard, and can be left blind for a minimal look or filled with foil or ink for added contrast.

  • Thicker board gives a deeper, clearer deboss.
  • Use bold logos and shapes, as very thin lines can disappear.
  • Try debossing with foil inside the impression for a premium contrast.
