Embossing for Custom Packaging

Raise your logo, pattern or text above the surface of the box with embossing, a tactile finish customers can see and feel.

What is embossing?

About Embossing

Embossing presses the board between a matching pair of dies so the design is pushed up from the surface, creating a raised, three-dimensional effect. It can be used on its own (blind embossing) or combined with foil or print for extra impact.

Because it adds texture as well as visual depth, embossing makes packaging feel more expensive and memorable in the hand, which is why it is a favorite for premium retail and gift boxes.

Design tips

  • Choose bold shapes and thicker lines, as fine detail can soften in the emboss.
  • Combine embossing with foil (foil emboss) for a striking raised metallic logo.
  • Use thicker board or rigid board for the deepest, cleanest result.
  • Blind embossing (no ink) gives an elegant, minimal look on light-colored stock.
